Changing Legislation to Achieve Equality

Discrimination in employment against sexual minorities should be illegal.

The state should recognize same-sex marriages.

Laws against lesbian and gay sex (sodomy laws) should be repealed.

Same-sex partnerships should be recognized for immigration purposes.

Lesbians and gays should be allowed to serve as members of the armed services.

The state should not prevent sexual minorities from adopting children and becoming foster parents.

Hate crime legislation should include violations against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons.

Partners in same-sex relationships should receive the same benefits (e.g., health care, retirement) from employers as partners in heterosexual relationships.
