The International Women's
Rights Action Watch (IWRAW) was organized in 1985 at the World Conference
on Women in Nairobi, Kenya, to promote recognition of women’s
human rights under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination against Women (the CEDAW Convention), a basic international
human rights treaty. IWRAW now is the primary international nongovernmental
organization that facilitates use of international human rights treaties
to promote women’s human rights and rights within families.
